A Good Story

A Good Story

It really pays to know your specialty as a coach. Here's a quick story to show you why.

One of my clients decided she wanted to be a transitions coach but she has had trouble choosing a specialty. We have talked through many options (divorce, empty nest, grief, etc.) but still, she hasn't been able to select one group of people to serve.

She had a breakthrough a couple of weeks ago when she went to a marketing workshop. The participants were to stand up and talk about their coaching businesses. One coach stood up and said she was a transitions coach (just like my client).  The workshop leader told her that was too broad and she needed to be more specific. So my client is thinking "I've heard this before and I need to decide."

When it was her turn to speak she stood up and said "I am a divorce coach."

Then an amazing thing happened. At the break a woman came up to her and said she had a friend who is an attorney that works with only with divorce clients and would she like to be introduced to him?

Do you see what happens when you become clear about your specialty and what you offer?

I can't imagine the pain of going through a divorce, but I know my client will have an extra special impact on her client's lives as she coaches them through it.

Roadtrip

Roadtrip

My husband loves to drive. I am not a huge fan of sitting in the car, but I try to be a good sport when he starts describing his dream destinations, and I start doing the math about how long it will take to drive to ALL of those places. Sigh.

We set out on such a sojourn just a couple weeks ago, our destination -- southwest Colorado.

I owe God an apology for grumbling in my heart before we left (we're driving how far?), because the scenery on this trip was OVER THE TOP! I have never seen such a display of fall colors, it was spectacular. Plus, we did so many other fun things....it was the best trip ever. I am so grateful.

Have you ever had an experience like this?

God is teaching me roadtrips aren't the only place my heart can change. I balk at speaking (too nervous), but good things always happen when I do. I procrastinate about writing (what should I say)....but some of my most treasured relationships have come from articles I have written.

Do you have something like this in your life? I hope you can relate.

Sometimes the best things happen when I stop looking in and look up and out instead.

I don't know if I will ever become a roadtrip fan, but one thing is certain.....next time my husband starts dreaming.....I'm not grumbling.

That's it

That's all for today. Thanks for reading (all the way to the end). You're the best :)

Until next time....

I am with you all the way,
